We opened our doors at Monarch Park Montessori (MPM) in 2012, as a school for toddlers and preschoolers. We strive to offer parents an unparalleled learning environment for their young children using the time-tested Montessori philosophy, and its specialized pedagogical apparatus. MPM is a fully licensed child care facility, licensed under the regulations of the Ministry of Education - Child Care Licensing System, in compliance with the regulations of the Child Care Early Year’s Act (CCEYA). Our beautifully appointed classrooms and carefully prepared environment is designed for young and capable minds to explore, absorb, and excel.
The system of education known as Montessori was developed by Dr. Maria Montessori as a result of many years of research and observation of children and how they learn. Research in neuroscience, paediatrics, and psychology has proven time and again that toddler and preschool aged children are transitioning through the most critical period in their educational and emotional development. Children in this age group, thrive on experiencing the world through their senses: seeing, hearing, touching, tasting and feeling. For example, they can see that a pumpkin is orange and a frog is green, but they don’t know why, and aren’t particularly interested in finding out. They are simply thrilled by the notion that they can sense that difference. At Monarch Park Montessori, we create an environment which fosters our student’s curiosity, creativity, and love of learning.
Like the toddler years, the preschool (casa) age group is a highly critical educational, and emotional development period. During this time, children transform themselves from the unconscious development of a toddler, to the conscious development of a preschooler. They thrive on the exploration of the world with their senses and begin to make more challenging sensory observations. In addition, children are given activities that are deliberately designed to have them experience abstract theories in concrete form. This is done so that, as they move into higher levels of education, they are well prepared to understand abstract theories found in math and sciences. Our goal is to ensure a seamless transition between our toddler program and casa program and to equip our students with the tools they need to succeed in an ever-challenging world.
